In preparation for the amazing Tea Time event I’ll be hosting this weekend, I decided to send thank you emails to my sponsors. One reply in particular was unexpected. This sponsor said she was honored to do business with me and would like to have a chat over coffee after the event. I immediately responded saying, “sure let’s put it on the calendar!” Her response? She asked if we could talk about my faith. I was not expecting that but I am very much looking forward to this meeting.
“Live wisely among those who are not believers, and make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” Colossians 4:5-6
I’m always excited when I have the opportunity to share what I believe. I read a sad statistic that on average, 96% of believers never share Jesus Christ’s message of hope and salvation with a non-believer. That means only 4% DO share their faith (or evangelize). That’s a heartbreaking reality. I can’t imagine never talking about my children or my grand-kisses. I light up like a Christmas tree when one of their names are even mentioned. I love that they love to come to grandmas house. They run into our home screaming “Grandma, grandma!” That warms my heart. Imagine them dreading to spend time with me, not ever mentioning that I even existed, it would break my heart! So imagine how Jesus feels when you don’t talk about him.
Maybe you’re not sure HOW to evangelize. You can start by building a relationship with those around you. Allowing others to see your daily life will show them what it means to walk in your convictions and follow Jesus. This will inevitably open doors for you to share your faith.
I’ve also noticed some are uncomfortable speaking about Jesus because they are not confident in their ability to articulate scripture. Opening your Bible regularly with others is a wonderful way to grow in knowledge and become better equipped to share about Jesus. Studying God’s Word takes time and discipline but it’s a worthwhile investment.
I would encourage you to spend quality time reading the Bible, and ask God to give you opportunities to share the love of Christ. The more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll become.

Only 4%!?! 😐
We cannot be ashamed to own Him on earth — ‘cause He, too, will be ashamed to own us before His Father in Heaven. Imagine that!!!
Every situation takes you back to the Bible … the Old Testament was for our learning; and, there’s NOTHING new under the sun.
It’s a daily routine with me; and, I’m thankful to God He allows it by ordering my footsteps!
Bless you! I am truly enjoying your “Blog”!
We should always be ready to share what God is to us,it’s just telling or sharing your story about him in your life, the more you talk about him the more you want to know him,so read his words, thank you so much for your wisdom you shared. Your blog is a blessing.
I find one of the easiest ways to share faith, is sharing my testimony and how God transformed/transforming my life! The conversation is authentic and usually have a non believer asking more questions! Like Pastor Darryl Baker says prepare a elevator pitch of why you have the hope you do! 💜
That’s very good advice.
