Covid Birthday Blessings

For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me are written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:13-16)

The more years we live, the more experiences we’re given to learn from, and the more wisdom and perspective we gain to see life in new and beautiful ways. As I see my grey hair sprout out uncontrollably and the age wrinkles around my eyes, I also remember all the ways God has blessed me with wonderful gifts throughout the years. And these gifts are more than the “big-ticket” items of life like getting married or having children. I take note of the small things as I realize I am surrounded by presents every day of my life. I love to receive gifts, but I love giving them even more. He not only blesses us with gifts, but He also gives us specific gifts to share with the world in every season of our lives.

What an amazing and unforgettable birthday I’ve experienced this year.

We never grow beyond serving. Jesus said the greatest in the kingdom is the one who is the servant of all (Mark 9:35). This weekend I was able to be participate in an outreach where we gave out more than 1,000 boxes of produce and prayed for more than 270 people! The testimonials received made my heart burst into a million pieces. Giving my time and prayers was indescribable. I told my church family if they wanted to give me a gift, to come serve alongside me at this amazing produce giveaway which my daughter facilitated (so proud of her). Never did I think I would be surprised the next day with a surprise party by my amazing church family.

Being a leader should spring from a desire to serve others. I’m honored to serve in any capacity. We never grow beyond serving. Jesus said the greatest in the kingdom is the one who is the servant of all (Mark 9:35). Everything is a gift from God and knowing how much He loves should lead us to pure gratitude and servitude.

God has used so many people throughout my life: my husband, mom, children, family members, mentors, leaders, teachers, and church family. God has used all these people to shape me into the person I am becoming. August 31, 2020, I celebrate my 54th birthday. I guess that puts me in the “old” category as my oldest grandkiss so lovingly reminds me almost daily – and unfortunately, my body agrees!

Praising God that I have thus far dodged the deadly COVID-19 virus. I am humbled and thankful for all who blessed me on my special day.

This is a long post, but I have to share this amazing tribute written by my spiritual daughter, Deaconess Cerina:

Gods Girl, that’s says a lot on its own

You not only carry the title you live it, through in through

Jesus Jr is what we really should call you!!!

Your smile lights up a room

Your huge heart keeps those around you beating, beating to the love of JESUS

YOUR GENEROSITY keeps those drowning, afloat

Your encouragement keeps those who are down uplifted

Your discernment keeps those who are close protected

Your resilience keeps others pressing though

Your prayers go before our battles and slay them

Your love, it’s all that you are and all that you do

And we can’t forget to mention sacrifice, we appreciate everything you do

Thank you for being our:

First Lady

Friend

Prayer warrior

Mother

Our beautiful God’s Girl!

We love you so much. Happy Birthday!!
